We had a great time talking with Frank about so many different things! We also shared one of his and his wife’s favorite wines, Erath Pinot Noir. His recently published book, Code Four, is the final book in the Charlie 316 series. You will want to get them all … page-turning crime reads!

On his productivity…
“If it’s something that you’re driven to do, if it’s something that it’s important to you, whatever that is, then you make the time for it, you just do. Finding the balance is the tough part between the job, and family, and then your passion.”
On the challenges facing law enforcement and writing about those challenges …
“Police officers are required to have a lot of different skills, and there are less people to hire who have those skills as well as wanting to do the job when those skills can earn a lot more money on the private market without as much responsibility. The level of public scrutiny is correct and should be there because they serve the public so transparency and the public having a say is important.”
On his podcast, Wrong Place, Write Crime …
“I thought, I could be the host that gets a guest on the show, and it’s the kind of show that you’re driving your car late at night on a long stretch of lonely highway with two hours left to go and you click onto some FM dial and you come across “oh, I know that guy; he wrote such and such.” And then you start listening and they talk about the work and the craft but then maybe they talk about the best hamburger or ‘what’s the meaning of life,’ and then they come back around to the work.”
