Wednesday Update: From Pollenpocalypse to Tortuga Music Festival

This update comes after a fun but exhausting week. I traveled to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to see my daughter and get my fill of hugs to last until the end of the semester. It was beautiful and spring like … and pollen filled. Thus the word pollenpocalypse was born, thanks to my son. In fact I shared a picture of the beautiful blooms on Instagram so everyone could enjoy minus the sneezes.

I returned to sunny south Florida where the weather was very summer-like, read hot and humid only without the thunderstorms.  Funny, when Cathi and I did our GOB podcast that evening I learned that South Dakota was having thunder snow!! I know, crazy right? Well to most of us it is unheard of and I must say, Cathi seemed a little surprised by it as well. We talked about Brad Park’s book, The Last Act. If you haven’t listened, it’s funny and informative as is the Corks and Conversation episode with Brad himself. Oh and keep checking on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for information an upcoming giveaway contest for his book.

Finally, I had a fun but exhausting three days at the Rock the Oceans Tortuga Music Festival on Fort Lauderdale Beach. I went with my son, who kept us on a tight itinerary to see all the best musicians and still we couldn’t catch them all! Really was an awesome event for country music fans with a sprinkling of rock, reggae and hip hop. Too many to name but as an example, one night we saw Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and the next night we saw Maren Morris and Thomas Rhett. So besides a little bit of sunburn on my lips and shoulders, and a lot of sore muscles from all that dancing, I had so much fun being filled with music from so many talented artists!

So now, I’m happily back to the writing groove … until the next adventure lures me away!
