My first attempt at homemade wings was a win, with great thanks to Kris and Welsey from How to Food a Loon! I tried their Classic Buffalo Wing recipe and their Garlic Parmesan Wings. Both, delicious! Highly recommend for any occasion, including a football game, a book club gathering, or anything in between!

Inspired by one of the early scenes in Karin Slaughter’s The Last Widow, for a Book Club meeting discussing the book, I’d serve a Southern Dessert Buffet featuring How to Feed a Loon’s Pecan Pie paired with Jam Jar’s Sweet Syrah.

Our latest episode, discussing The Last Widow had a sweet surprise!  Kris and Wesley from How to Feed a Loon joined us live!  They’re about a funny and fabulous as you’d guess from their food blog. You have to watch their videos! And, here’s a link to their AAHHmazing pie crust!

We even chatted about the pronunciation of Pecan – pecan or pecan?

We had the pleasure of talking with several writers last summer at Thrillerfest in NYC. It was amazingly fun and inspirational! They all had such unique and interesting answers to all our questions!

This week, we’re sharing our conversations with K.J. Howe, David Albertyn, Cate Holahan, and Elizabeth Wilkerson.  Check out their websites to find their latest books.

On S2E5, we discussed John Sandford’s Neon Prey. For this Book Club, Christie expertly paired Carnivor Zinfandel with a beef tenderloin. You’ll have to listen to episode to figure out why – and it’s a doozy. If you already listened – here’s the link to the article Christie promised to share.

On Episode 4, Christie and I discussed John Sandford’s Neon Prey.  As always, we paired this thriller with some food and wine – it was a particularly interesting conversation for this book club chat.

John Sandford, at the top of his game and publishing two books a year, gave an interesting interview to The Real Book Spy, where talks about the importance of researching his settings. Sandford has compared the true crimes committed in Florida and Minnesota, which we thought was pretty funny given our locations. We also discussed writing a mystery series and thought the tips in Camille Minichino’s article were spot on.

We had the pleasure of talking with Lisa Unger this week, discussing her latest release, The Stranger Inside. We’re sure you’re going to fall in love with her just as much as we did. We shared a glass of Louis M. Martini Cabarnet Sauvignon. It was the perfect companion to an inspiring conversation!
